Graham: Obama terror strategy could 'bring this administration down'
The Obama administration's approach to dealing with terror threats could derail its existence, a top Republican member of the Senate Homeland Security Committee said Wednesday.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (S.C.) said that the administration's decision to try self-professed 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammad and other high-profile terror suspects in a civilian court is the wrong approach.
Graham, along with five other bipartisan senators signed a letter this week to Attorney General Eric Holder asking him to move the terror trials out of New York City and into a military commission.
Graham's comments also come on the day President Barack Obama will give his State of the Union address, part of which will likely focus on national security and terrorism.
The South Carolina senator claimed that military panels have better experience dealing with terror threats than civilian courts.
Graham sponsored a measure late last year, which failed to pass the Senate, to cut off funding to move Khalid Sheik Mohammad and other suspects from the military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to New York City.
