Cantor: Disappointment if GOP doesn't win the House
House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.) said Thursday he'd be disappointed if Republicans don't win back the House this fall.
The second-ranking House Republican asserted that voters prefer divided government in Washington, and would put the GOP in control of the House this fall.
"Well sure," Cantor said during an appearance on MSNBC when asked if he'd be disappointed if the GOP didn't win the House, "because I think what the American people really want -- I think the ire is at the policy and people want results."
House Republicans face a tall order in this fall's elections, having to win 40 seats to win back control of the House. GOP leaders on that side of the Capitol have spoken more confidently about the prospects for such a sweep, though the head of Senate Republicans' campaign efforts has been less optimistic about their chances.
"I think people like divided government, they want a check and balance on power," Cantor said.
