Biden: Administration 'working very hard' on health reform

Vice President Joe Biden on Thursday said the Obama administration is "working very hard" on healthcare reform and plans to reach out to congressional Republicans in the coming days.

Asked what he is doing to move the process forward in the wake of Republican Sen. Scott Brown's upset win last month in Massachusetts, Biden said

"We're working very hard, and the president meant what he said when he said he's open to Republican ideas. I suspect the president very shortly will be asking Republican leadership to come down and tell us what they think we should be on healthcare and see if we can reach some kind of a compromise."

Biden was in the Senate to swear in Brown — a ceremonial duty awarded to the vice president in his role as president of the Senate.
