Poll: Mild approval for Palin, Tea Partiers

By Eric Zimmermann - 02/05/10 12:06 PM ET

Americans are split on Sarah Palin and have mixed feelings on the "Tea Party" protesters, according to a CNN poll .

The poll comes as the Tea Party Convention kicks off in Nasvhille. Palin will speak to the gathering, whose organizers have taken heat for reportedly seeking to profit from the event.

Palin will reportedly earn $100,000 for her appearance.

CNN found that 43 percent of American have a favorable view of Palin, while 46 percent have an unfavorable view. That's up slightly from a 39-48 margin in early August.

Meanwhile, 33 percent of respondents say they have a favorable view of the Tea Party protesters, with 26 percent holding an unfavorable view. Twenty-four percent have never heard of the Tea Partiers.

Must be a real up to date cross section of folks for 24% to never have heard of the Tea Party. Just wonder where they get their news.BY scrapiron on 02/05/2010 at 13:09
Another poll…How nice…Polls are only there for the political junkies in DC and on the boob tube…The only poll that will count is the one coming in November…BY Mike the Mook on 02/05/2010 at 13:09
I am a native and proud Texan and every true conservative from the Teaparty knows that the Texas governatorial candidate Debra Medina speaks for We Texans. Many in my small conservative committee group knew that when palin came out and endorsed none other than politics as usual "Mr. Texas Toll Roads "and backer of higher Taxes Rick Perry then we knew she had backslid significantly or had a temporary bout of amnestia. I continue to like Mrs Palin, but most certainly rebuke her choice to back the insider and establishment candidate with the same money grubbing governor who has chosen Big Business money over the Texas citizens everytime. After 8 yrs in office he is tired and Texans need Debra Medina to help restore Texans jobs and get rid of the insider business deals with foreign countries to Tax Texas roads for profit when the citizens of Texas already own the roads to be taxed. Debra Medina will keep money in Texas and not for some foreign nationsthen this is where she became very luke warm and actually tepid in my considerations of her. Debra Medina is the true conservative Texas candidate for Governor and the one who speaks and would represent the real citizens and not Big Businesses from Spain wanting to Tax Texans for Toll Roads that Texans already own. Debra Medina will work to rid the citizens of the property Tax. Remember if you always pay taxes on your lands, then you never have complete and rightful ownership of your property. There is a choice here in Texas instead of the usual establishment big Government insiders of perry or kay bailout hutchinson. That candidate is Debra Medina for Tx governor!BY I Love Texas ! on 02/05/2010 at 13:12
The tea bagger movement started out fine and with good ideals, but it has been corrupted by the profiteers like Sister Sarah Palin.BY John on 02/05/2010 at 13:17
I do not know who you are asking, but she is the most honest and decent person in the US. She is smart, beautiful and married to a hunk. I would hope that Americans will begin to see the smear tactics and reject them.BY Jean Huber on 02/05/2010 at 13:19

The recent Supreme Court ruling rewriting the constitution in order to give corporations constitutional rights that only Congress can provide is likely going to be very damaging to Republican prospects in the fall elections. I'm having trouble finding anyone, other than the far right John Birch Society, who can justify the decision. Most conservatives seem to recognize that corporations are creations of the law that exist for the benefit of society, and not vice versa. Democrats have every right to take this decision right to the ballot box, and who can blame them?BY Court damages GOP on 02/05/2010 at 13:31
The Tea Party party this weekend seems to be antithetical to the whole movement and a ploy to profit from the movement itself. Palin of late has a serious lapse in judgment as her promise to campaign for McCain proves she is loyal to people and not the ideas behind the movement.BY RichN on 02/05/2010 at 13:37
Sarah came to the lower forty eight for one reason, the gold.If she hadn't quit on the Alaskan people, she would have been thought more of.BY rick on 02/05/2010 at 13:41
CNN, the Corpse News Network, should send its "Corpse-man" Larry King, to its hero, Nobama, so that he can distinguish the difference between him and a Navy Corpsman. Their polls had Scott Brown losing bigtime. Would their latest poll reflect that in the last year they have lost superstar Glenn Beck to Fox News , as well as watching Sarah Palin become FNC's latest hottie ? They pick up disgraced but lovely Kiran Chetry from the FNC dumpster, and hide her behind a desk with another CNN corpse-man. They should call their morning show the Big Yawn.BY Joe Hogan on 02/05/2010 at 14:07
