Dem to Obama: Don't be afraid of Colbert
A freshman Democrat who has appeared on Stephen Colbert's television show on Wednesday challenged President Barack Obama to do the same.
Rep. Mike Quigley (D-Ill.) said that the president should not be afraid to go on the Comedy Central program just because Colbert can be tough on politicians.
He tweeted at White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs:
*@PressSec Re: your comment about no politician being able to best Colbert -- I dunno, I thought I did okay last week :)
Gibbs told Time Magazine that while the president would love to appear on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, he probably won't be sitting down with Colbert anytime soon.
"I think the President would love to [do the Daily Show], just maybe not Colbert," Gibbs joked to Michael Scherer. "I have yet to see a politician best Stephen Colbert in an interview on his show...I mean, he's really, really good."
Here's how Quigley fared:
