Liberal group launches ad blitz targeting African-Americans on healthcare
A liberal action group launched a half-million dollar ad blitz Friday to help push Democrats across the finish line on health care reform.
Americans United for Change released ads for television and radio on urging voters to tell their representatives to support the reform bill. The ads are directed toward a predominately African-American audience.
Both ads claim reform will keep insurance rates down, create jobs by holding down health care costs and prevent sick Americans from losing coverage. They also feature clips of recent speeches by President Obama in support of the bill.
The group is spending $125,000 on a 30-second television ad will run on BET, and $145,000 on a radio spot running 60-seconds will air on nationally syndicated radio and some local stations.
AUFC will also spend $220,000 on an ad buy for the same radio ad in local, predominantly African-American markets.
Both ads will run through March 18, the date President Obama has set as a deadline for the controversial bill to be passed.
