Dems fire back at GOP's ethics attack with ad of their own
Democrats released a new ad Tuesday taking GOP leaders to task for allegedly failing to respond to ethics issues in their own party.
A new ad from the Democratic National Committee (DNC) attacked Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Steele for their response to possible ethics violations within the Republican caucus.
The 30-second ad points specifically Sen. David Vitter (R-La.), who was found to be a client of a Washington prostitution ring, and Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.), the subject of an FBI investigation into allegations he offered jobs and money to cover up an extramarital affair.
The ad, which will run on Washington area cable stations next week, claims McConnell and Steele have done nothing to hold the two accountable.
The spot closes with images of former House Majority Leader Tom Delay (R-Texas) and incarcerated lobbyist Jack Abramoff.
The RNC introduced a similar ad last week critical of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's response to ethical problems plaguing House Democrats.
