AFL-CIO: 'No' on reconciliation changes is a 'yes' on healthcare

The AFL-CIO is sending a message to Senators as a vote on the reconciliation package nears: vote against amendments, and we've got your back.

While Republicans plan amendments to the bill, including some normally seen as favorable to labor, the labor group urged senators to vote against the measures, which are seen as a GOP attempt to derail the reconciliation bill's passage.

The AFL-CIO, which releases lawmaker ratings based on votes, will be scoring the vote for the reconciliation package, but will not score votes on amendments meant to prevent its passage.

The AFL-CIO endorsed the healthcare bill last week.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has said he hopes to have the reconciliation vote wrapped up by Saturday.
