Irritated at Obama, Maddow calls Clinton 'best Republican president ever'

Liberal MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow is worried that Barack Obama is becoming Bill Clinton.

During her show on Wednesday, Maddow lambasted Obama's new offshore drilling ban, suggesting that Democrats have caved on energy without getting anything in return.

She said the administration is "giving the Democrat Party's base the back of the hand" and expressed concern that Obama is moving to the right, like Clinton did after the 1994 elections.

Maddow called Clinton "probably the best Republican president the country ever had, if you look at the policies he passed."

Dick Morris, a columnist for The Hill who advised Clinton during his presidency, agrees that Obama's drilling announcement is a move to the right. During an appearance Wednesday on Fox News, Morris called Obama's decision "Clintonesque."
