Man who threatened to kill Cantor unfit for trial

A man who threatened House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.) has been declared unfit for trial by a federal court, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported Tuesday.

Norman Leboon, 38, has been ordered to undergo four months of psychiatric treatment at a federal prison with a mental health facility so that he could eventually be fit to stand trial, according to U.S. Attorney Robert K. Reed.

Leboon, a Philadelphia native, taped a YouTube video in which he said of Cantor, "You're an abomination, you receive my bullets in your office, remember they will be placed in your heads. You and your children are Lucifer's abominations."

The incident was one of many highlighted in the aftermath of the healthcare vote, when many lawmakers noted they received personal threats because of their votes.

Cantor was criticized by Democrats when he accused two of the party's leaders late last month of using threats against their members as a "political weapon."

He also received heat for ssaying that a bullet was shot through the window of his Richmond, Va. office in the context of threats to other lawmakers.

The bullet was found by police to have been shot inadvertently. The second ranking House Republican said at the time that he has received threats because he is Jewish.

Some Republicans attempted to pin Leboon as a liberal at the time of his arrest because he had donated to then-Sen. Barack Obama's (D-Ill.) presidential campaign. But Leboon also recorded videos that threatened Obama, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.)
