NYT, WSJ offer their short lists

The New York Times and Wall Street Journal have compiled prospective "short lists" for a Supreme Court nomination.

Both papers led with the three names most often mentioned: Elena Kagan, Solicitor General; Judge Diane Wood ot the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals; and Judge Merrick Garland of the DC Court of Appeals.

Others mentioned include Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm (D), Stanford Law Professor Pamela Karlan, "Regulatory Czar" Cass Sunstein, and Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick (D).
