Top GOPer says no 'foreign connection' in Times Square threat

The attempted bombing in Times Square does not appear to have any "foreign connection," a top House Republican said today.

Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.), the ranking member of the House Homeland Security Committee, told Fox News there is no evidence the attack was planned or coordinated overseas.

“[T]here does not appear to be any foreign connection, there was no intelligence chatter before, there was no conversation since indicating that this was coordinated from overseas," King told Fox and Friends. "Everything has to be left on the table, but as far as the foreign connection, there does not appear to be one right now."

The Pakistani Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attempted bombing, but King's statements suggest the authorities aren't buying that as of now.
