Biden's son to receive therapy, will return to work in 'near future'
Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, the son of Vice President Joe Biden, is still recovering in a Philadelphia hospital Wednesday after suffering a mild stroke.
Biden, 41, was hospitalized in Newark, Del., on Tuesday and was awake and alert by the afternoon. He was transferred to the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia for further treatment and observation.
The Delaware Department of Justice said Wednesday that Biden "continues his favorable progress after sustaining a mild stroke yesterday. He will continue to follow standard protocol and receive medical therapy over the coming days, as is typical for any patient recovering from an event like this.
Biden "looks forward to returning to his duties as attorney general in the near future."
The attorney general is in the Delaware National Guard and has served in Iraq.
The vice president spent much of Tuesday and Wednesday attending to his son.
Vice President Biden is returning to Washington on Wednesday afternoon and will host a dinner for Afghan President Hamid Karzai at the Naval Observatory.
