Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) is considering a 2010 run for governor, the Associated Press reported last night.

King reportedly said, during a taping of Iowa Public Television's "Iowa Press" program, that he is considering a run at the office held by Iowa Gov. Chet Culver (D), but that he sees a more important role for himself in helping to heal the GOP after the 2008 election defeats.

"There's a duty for me, I think, I've made no decisions," King said, according to the AP. "It would be constructive for me at this point to say that the most important job right now is to bring together and reunify the Republican Party in this state."
