Warner is projected to win Virginia's Senate race against Republican former Gov. Jim Gilmore, marking the first net gain for Senate Democrats tonight in their bid to attain a filibuster-proof majority in the upper chamber.

Warner succeeds Sen. John Warner (R), of no relation, who is retiring.
