Poll Shows Democrat Leading in Race to Succeed Rep. Everett

In the race for Congress in retiring Rep. Terry Everett's (R-Ala.) Republican-leaning district, Democrat Bobby Bright leads his GOP opponent by 10 points, according to a new poll.

Bright leads Republican Jay Love 47 percent to 37 percent in the poll by the Capitol Research Survey Center, reports the Birmingham News. Love's campaign, however, has noted that the polling firm also does work for the Alabama Education Association, a teachers union, and has a state Democratic leader as its vice chairman.

Everett, an 8-term congressman, won re-election in 2006 with 69 percent of the vote.
