The Louisiana Secretary of State's office is investigating potential voter fraud in Louisiana as dead people, felons, and family dogs are being solicited to register to vote as Democrats in the state.
The office is meeting this afternoon with V.I.P., a Democratic voter registration group based in Washington, DC, to discuss its activities.
The group has contacted or attempted to contact Louisianans that have either already registered or are ineligible, seeking to register them to vote as Democrats, and the Secretary of State's office has received applications from residents who are ineligible.
Local media reported today that thousands of bogus applications had been dumped on Louisiana registrars, prompting the investigation. The Secretary of State's office told The Hill that questionable applications and registration efforts were popping up in Louisiana's four most populous parishes--Caddo, Jefferson, East Baton Rouge, and Orleans.
Another Democratic-affiliated group, Women's Voices. Women Vote, may also be involved in the registration efforts, the office said.
The office began its investigation when it received apparently erroneous applications and complaints from citizens, spokesman Jacques Berry told The Hill.
