The call came as some Republicans were criticizing the president and Eric Holder.
President Obama spent his second day of vacation the same way he did the first.
The survey suggests Obama has been bolstered by actions on immigration and Cuba policy.
Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) pointed to Obama, New York's mayor and members of the media.
"The protests are being embraced, the protests are being encouraged," he said.
The senator said the shooter alone is to blame for the deaths of two New York officers.
Rep. Gregory Meeks said de Blasio and Holder have been trying "to bring the city together.”
Cornell William Brooks said criticism of New York's mayor and Eric Holder are unfair.
Obama said he recognizes that "most Americans have good intentions."
