Bill Clinton: 'I expect to support' Hillary on 'whatever' she does in 2016

Former President Clinton said he would support his wife whether she decides to run for president in 2016 or do something else.

Asked in an interview with Bloomberg TV, Clinton said he did not know whether his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, would run for president in 2016. Clinton said he had spent the last few months working with daughter Chelsea and Hillary on reorganizing his foundation, which was renamed the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation.

Poll: Six months after Sandy Hook, 71 percent favor expanding background checks

A large majority of Americans continue to support expanding background checks on gun purchases six months after the elementary school shooting in Newtown, Conn., despite the failure of such a bill in the Senate in April.

According to the survey by Public Policy Polling, 71 percent of voters favor mandating background checks for private, Internet and gun show sales. That includes 85 percent of Democrats, two-thirds of independents and 57 percent of Republicans. Only 22 percent of those surveyed said they opposed such a change.

More than half — 51 percent — of all voters say they would be less likely to support a legislator who voted against a background check bill, including three out of every 10 Republicans.
