Large Part of Stimulus Package Should Go to Infrastructure (Sen. Jim Webb)

As many families throughout Virginia experience economic hardship due to a slowing economy, Congress needs to act in a bipartisan manner to spur job creation and to protect hardworking Americans.

I personally believe the strongest tonic for economic stimulation is investment in infrastructure projects. These would include construction for schools, highways, bridges, and water systems. Virginia has more than 5.5 billion dollars in water infrastructure needs alone.

I have urged the Senate leadership to devote a large portion of the stimulus package to infrastructure development, in order to both put people to work and address our nation’s capital needs.
