Even Republicans Want Contractors Held Accountable in Iraq (Rep. John Larson)

With this week’s votes on Iraq, Democrats in the House have successfully forced our Republican colleagues to vote with us.  Despite a long list of unwarranted objections from the Bush administration that were dumped on Congress over the previous twenty-four hours, Republicans voted yesterday to hold American contractors accountable for their actions in Iraq.

Earlier this week, a majority of Republicans voted for the first time for legislation that forces the president to face the reality of withdrawal from Iraq.  Democrats, and the American people, are putting persistent pressure on Republicans and forcing them to join us in bringing about a safe, speedy and responsible withdrawal from Iraq.
