When will Congress ever learn that they can't manipulate America's energy sector like it was some kind of machine? In their rush to beat up on so-called Big Oil, senators decided to reward renewable energy bullies with another round of subsidies from taxpayers. Simply wishing that winds will blow, corn will grow, and government-funded energy schemes will suddenly succeed won't change reality: only a low-tax, free-market environment that lets all innovators compete will bring economically viable sources of energy to consumers the fastest. The full Senate should reject the road to higher taxes and put energy policy on the proven path of less government intervention.
