The nearly 3,000 killed and 25,000 maimed Americans in Iraq, and the 140,000 remaining US troops don’t have the luxury of Rice’s layers of protection and precautions. The Iraqi people don’t live in the Green Zone and don’t have military planes, flak jackets, armed bodyguards. For them, reality is grim and it is 24-7-365, not a few hours of Presidential Palace chatter and cocktails. What the Iraq people have is round-the-clock fear and well over 100,000 widows and orphans.
