Ahead of strategy roll-out, Panetta huddles with president
Defense Secretary Leon Panetta was headed to the White House on Tuesday afternoon to huddle with his boss in the Oval Office, just days before he formally sets U.S. military strategy on a new course.
Panetta was slated to cross the Potomac River for a 4:30 p.m. meeting with President Obama and Vice President Biden.
The strategy, to be previewed in a Thursday Pentagon briefing, will instead put in place a new doctrine under which the U.S. military will be able to fight one major conflict while also preventing a potential foe from acting too aggressively elsewhere, according to The New York Times.
