Veterans’ unemployment ticks up slightly

By Jeremy Herb - 12/07/12 11:49 AM ET

The unemployment rate for all veterans rose slightly in November to 6.7 percent from 6.3 percent in October.

The increase for vets came as the overall unemployment rate dropped to 7.7 percent, the lowest it has been since December 2008.

Despite the three-tenths increase from October to November, the veterans’ unemployment rate has remained below 7 percent for five months, the first time it’s been that low since 2008.

The rate dropped down from 7.4 percent in November 2011.

For veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, the unemployment rate in November remained steady at 10 percent, higher than the national average.

That figure has fluctuated between 7.6 and 12.7 percent this year.
