Report: Ex-Navy SEAL killed in Libya attack
The third American killed in Libya during the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi was a former Navy SEAL from Massachusetts, The Boston Globe reported Thursday.
The sister of Glen Doherty identified him as the third of four victims in the Tuesday evening attack where U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens was also killed.
Katie Quigley told the Globe that Doherty, 42, was working for a private security company for protecting U.S. officials overseas after he left the SEALs about four years ago.
He was a Navy SEAL for seven years and served in both Iraq and Afghanistan, Quigley said.
Quigley said her family was notified about 5 p.m. Wednesday. The State Department has not yet named him as a victim in the attack.
