House Intel chairman: 'Action needs to be taken' against Syria

OVERNIGHT DEFENSE: New Benghazi report blames State, not Pentagon

The Topline: House Republicans unveiled a new report Tuesday on the last year’s attack in Benghazi, Libya, which blamed Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the State Department for approving lax security measures.

The report also accused Clinton of trying to cover up the department’s failures in the aftermath of the attack.

The Pentagon, however, was spared much criticism, as the lawmakers found Defense Department officials and the military “reacted quickly to the attacks in Benghazi.”

The House GOP report was a compilation of five congressional committees' findings and recommendations, including the House Armed Services Committee. It was released to Republican House members on Tuesday.

Report: Canadian terror plot to derail train thwarted

Canadian police have arrested two people in connection with the plotting of a major terrorist attack, according to reports.

Canadian authorities will announced later Monday they are arresting two suspects in Montreal and Toronto, who are expected to appear in court Tuesday, the CBC reported.

The case has no connection to last week’s Boston Marathon bombing, Canadian officials said.
