Panetta scrubs trip to visit F-35 program workers

By John T. Bennett - 12/07/11 03:42 PM ET

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has scrubbed a planned Friday trip that was slated to include meeting F-35 fighter program workers.

Panetta was slated to head to Maryland's Naval Air Station Patuxent River, but “due to a change in [his] schedule,” it has been postponed, the Pentagon said in a Wednesday statement.

“The secretary looks forward to visiting Pax River and to meeting the men and women working on the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter and critical rapid prototyping projects early next year,” Pentagon spokesman George Little said in the statement.

Panetta will remain in Washington that day, Little said.
