EPA chief slams industry lobbyists over ‘trumped-up’ climate rule claims

By Ben Geman - 09/14/10 05:58 PM ET

EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson on Tuesday accused energy industry lobbyists of wildly inflating the impact of looming climate change regulations on the U.S. economy.

Her comments come as an array of powerful business groups – including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the American Petroleum Institute – are urging lawmakers to delay the rules. The groups frequently allege the EPA regulations will stymie job-creating investments.

But Dow Jones reports that Jackson swung back Tuesday at a symposium marking the 40th anniversary of the Clean Air Act. “We are not going to fall victim to another round of trumped-up doomsday predictions,” she said, according to the Dow Jones account.
