Inhofe ‘almost certain’ of Nebraska Dem's backing on block-EPA bill
Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) said Wednesday that he’s on the cusp of winning another Democratic co-sponsor for his legislation to block federal climate change regulations: Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.).
“He [Nelson] all but said he was going to do it,” Inhofe said in the Capitol. Inhofe spoke with Nelson, who is among the more conservative members of the Democratic caucus, earlier this week.
“I believe he will do it. He was very positive,” Inhofe said, adding he was “almost certain” Nelson would sign on to the bill, which also has the backing of Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and over 40 Republicans.
Nelson – who faces a 2012 reelection fight in his conservative state – said in the Capitol Wednesday that he is “certainly looking at it very carefully.”
