House GOP energy plan hits Facebook
House GOP leaders have brought their “American Energy Initiative,” launched earlier this month, to Facebook.
The initiative is the umbrella for efforts to scuttle what the Republican leaders call excessive Obama administration limits on oil-and-gas drilling and other types of energy development.
For instance, House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Doc Hastings (R-Wash.) plans to unveil legislation soon to speed up offshore drilling.
But a major piece of the initiative is to attack White House policies at a time of elevated prices at the pump — and the Facebook commenters are getting in on the action. A recent comment declares, “Obama, he dicktater, we peasants.”
The posts date back to March 10, the day House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) announced the energy effort.
