BP has one post-moratorium permit request pending, source says

Oil giant BP has submitted one permit application to the Interior Department since the agency lifted a moratorium on deepwater oil-and-gas drilling in October, according to an administration source familiar with the matter.

The permit for one well is under review, according to the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the application is “pre-decisional.”

Interior Secretary Ken Salazar on Monday denied reports that BP had struck a deal with the administration to resume drilling numerous wells in the Gulf of Mexico this summer.
