World Resources Institute president to step down

By Andrew Restuccia - 05/11/11 04:21 PM ET

World Resources Institute (WRI) President Jonathan Lash will resign in July to become president of Hampshire College.

Lash has been president of the environmental think tank for the last 18 years.

WRI Executive Vice President Manish Bapna will take over as acting president of the organization when Lash steps down in July. WRI will soon begin searching for Lash's permanent replacement.

"I am very proud that WRI today is more innovative and having more impact than at any time in its history. WRI and its staff are increasingly recognized as key voices on environmental and development issues, as trusted partners, and as leaders in producing results,” Lash said in a statement.

Hampshire College is a liberal arts school in Amherst, Mass.
