News bites: Exxon under pressure on gas fracking, US official defends climate aid, and more

Reuters reports that shareholders are pressing Exxon Mobil and other companies about the safety of hydraulic fracturing, a common but controversial method of developing gas wells.

The Dallas Morning News reports that Exxon CEO Rex Tillerson calls the concerns overblown.

AFP reports that the State Department’s senior climate official is battling to maintain funding for developing countries to help them address global warming.

The Washington Post has the latest on the battle over University of Virginia records related to climate scientist Michael Mann.

Reuters reports that the Swiss government has decided to phase out nuclear power by 2034, but will not shutter existing plants prematurely.

Dow Jones reports that Japan is seeking to boost renewable energy in the wake of its nuclear reactor crisis.

A proposed wind farm off Delaware’s coast is facing rough seas, the News Journal reports.
