EPA climate rule schedule slips
The Environmental Protection Agency won’t meet an end-of-September deadline to issue proposed greenhouse gas standards for power plants, EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson said in California.
Reuters caught up with Jackson in San Francisco on Wednesday.
"Greenhouse gases for power plants is first on the docket," she said, according to the news service. "Although we are not going to make the date at the end of the month, we are still working and will be shortly announcing a new schedule."
The delay comes shortly after President Obama pulled the plug this month on planned EPA rules to toughen ozone standards.
But the administration has vowed to stand its ground on other upcoming air pollution rules such as looming air toxics standards for power plants.
