News bites: Greenhouse gas emissions increase by record amount

Global carbon emissions increased “by the largest amount on record last year,” The New York Times reports.

Tokyo Electric Power has detected a new leak at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, The Wall Street Journal reports.

The Solyndra debacle “hasn't completely scared investors away” from the solar industry, the Journal says.

Electric car maker Aptera Motors is closing its doors, The Associated Press reports.

China blasted a decision by the U.S. International Trade Commission to move forward with an investigation into Chinese solar trade practices, according to Reuters.

Climate talks could take a backseat to the debt crisis, Bloomberg reports.
