By Andrew Restuccia - 02/07/12 10:10 AM ET

BP's fourth-quarter earnings were about $5 billion, up from the year before, Bloomberg reports.

Reuters reports that BP is getting ready for oil spill lawsuits.

A Gulf of Mexico oil spill trial is set to begin Feb. 27, The Associated Press reports.

Electric car maker Fisker Automotive said it halted work at a Delaware factory because the Energy Department will not let the company draw from its $529 million loan, Bloomberg reports.

The Wall Street Journal found a Canadian official who opposes the Keystone XL oil sands pipeline.

Bloomberg says the United States is inching closer to energy independence.
