

News bites: Global warming's coastal toll, Saudis might boost oil supply, and more
The New York Times reports on the dangers that global warming creates for coastal regions.
“About 3.7 million Americans live within a few feet of high tide and risk being hit by more frequent coastal flooding in coming decades because of the sea level rise caused by global warming, according to new research,” its piece states.
Reuters reports that Saudi Arabia’s oil minister said the kingdom, OPEC’s dominant producer, is “committed to fill any ‘perceived or real’ oil supply gaps.”
Bloomberg reports that “U.S. Deputy Energy Secretary Daniel Poneman will join Iranian Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi to discuss ways to mitigate crude-price volatility at the International Energy Forum in Kuwait.”
