Senate clears Energy Department nominees
The big group of Obama administration nominees the Senate confirmed late Thursday includes Energy Department (DOE) officials who will oversee green energy research, the minority impact office and the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.
Lawmakers confirmed David Danielson to be assistant secretary for energy efficiency and renewable energy.
He has been a program director at DOE’s Advanced Research Projects Agency since 2009 and before that helped green-energy companies get off the ground at General Catalyst Partners, a Boston-based venture capital firm.
The Senate also confirmed Charles McConnell to be the assistant secretary for fossil energy.
He has been chief operating officer of the fossil energy office that oversees the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, research and development of ways to lower emissions from coal-fired power plants, and other areas. More on McConnell here.
In addition, the Senate confirmed Dot Harris to be director of the Office of Minority Economic Impact.
She’s currently the president and CEO of Jabo Industries, LLC, a minority-female-owned management consulting firm that focuses on energy, according to DOE.
Gregory Woods got the nod to be DOE’s general counsel. He’ll slide over from his role as deputy general counsel at the Transportation Department.
