News bites: Oil-company CEOs get big raises

The Wall Street Journal reports that the top executives at Exxon Mobil and Chevron received significant raises last year.

Settlements over the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill will be filed in federal court Monday, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.

Retail sales went up last month despite high gas price, MSNBC reports.

Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said the U.S. economy “is in a much better position” to deal with high gas prices, according to Reuters.

The Washington Post reports on Republicans’ ongoing focus on high gas prices.
