Romney energy adviser lands on Time’s ‘most influential’ list

By Ben Geman - 04/18/12 12:18 PM ET

If the people on Time magazine’s annual list of the 100 “Most Influential People in the World” are indeed that powerful, it could bode well for Mitt Romney.

Harold Hamm, the billionaire oil executive who is backing Romney and heads his energy policy advisory group, has landed on the list released Wednesday.

Hamm, a Republican donor, is the CEO of of Oklahoma-based Continental Resources. Romney announced Hamm’s advisory role in early March. Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) penned a blurb praising Hamm for Time.

Here it is:

After a humble start on a poor family farm in Oklahoma and a job pumping gas in Enid, Harold Hamm launched a wildcatting oil company and built it into the billion-dollar Continental Resources. Through the use of hydraulic fracturing and other new technologies, Hamm, 66, has created hundreds of jobs and homegrown energy and given back, supporting education and diabetes research.
