News bites: Chesapeake faces major liabilities

The Wall Street Journal reports that Chesapeake Energy has $1.4 billion in previously unreported liabilities.

Experts raised concerns about oil drilling in Cuba on Thursday, the Houston Chronicle reports.

Rep. Chip Cravaack (R-Minn.) and other Republicans are hoping to block funding for a climate change education program, according to the Star Tribune.

Enbridge hopes to finish construction on a $1 billion oil pipeline to replace the one that leaked in Michigan in 2010, The Associated Press reports.

Parties reached a $2 million settlement in connection with a 2009 oil tanker spill in San Francisco, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
