By Zack Colman - 08/07/12 08:38 AM ET

The Barnett Shale is located under Fort Worth and the surrounding area and is considered to have the largest producible natural gas reserves of any field in the United States.

Federal regulators are getting tougher on oil pipeline safety standards, explains Reuters.

Solar power lanterns provided light for India’s poor during the largest electricity outage in history, Slate reports.

Record heat is swelling the amount of fish killed in the Midwest, says NPR.

Environmental concerns are beginning to color Israel’s offshore drilling plans for vast natural-gas resources in the Mediterranean Sea, Reuters notes.
