Congressman running Solyndra probe trails in primary vote
Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Fla.) is facing a surprise defeat in the GOP primary for his Florida seat.
Stearns is familiar to E2-Wire readers as the point man in the House GOP’s probe of Solyndra, the solar company that went belly-up after receiving a $535 million Energy Department loan guarantee.
Veterinarian Ted Yoho, who challenged Stearns in Tuesday’s primary, has pulled ahead in the vote count, but The Associated Press has not yet called the race. The Hill’s Alexandra Jaffe has more here.
Stearns is chairman of the Oversight and Investigations subcommittee, which is part of the powerful Energy and Commerce Committee.
