Candidate leading Rep. Stearns in primary wants to abolish Energy Department
Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Fla.) hasn’t been gentle on the Energy Department when leading the House GOP probe of Solyndra — he has even called for the firing of Energy Secretary Steven Chu.
But Ted Yoho, the political novice who has apparently upset Stearns in Tuesday’s close GOP primary, is equally tough on DOE, in fact, he wants it to vanish entirely.
From Yoho's campaign website:
We need to drill here, drill now and drill responsibly. We must build the Keystone Pipeline and decrease regulations on energy companies to utilize our Nation’s natural resources. In addition, I will support all forms of alternative energy provided they are market driven and are not subsidized by the government. Finally, it’s time to abolish the Department of Energy.
