News bites: Oil production restarts, but prices still rising

Oil and gas production in the Gulf of Mexico is slowly resuming after Hurricane Isaac, The Associated Press reports. However, possible economic stimulus from the European Central Bank has pushed prices higher as speculators express optimism about demand for raw materials, notes Bloomberg.

The expansion of natural gas has revived Ohio’s economy and helped President Obama’s reelection chances there, according to Bloomberg.
