Warren uses Inhofe’s climate views to knock Brown

By Ben Geman - 09/21/12 07:31 AM ET

Massachusetts Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren (D) hopes Sen. James Inhofe’s (R-Okla.) views about global warming — which Inhofe calls a “hoax” — will give her a leg up against incumbent Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.).

Warren, in Thursday night’s debate, noted that the Massachusetts race will help decide if Republicans take control of the Senate, which would likely put Inhofe in charge of the Environment and Public Works Committee.

“It's not just about Sen. Brown's vote, this is about the votes of all of the Republicans,” Warren said.

“You’re not running against Senator Jim Inhofe; you’re running against me,” Brown replied, according to The Boston Globe.

The exchange followed a question about whether the candidates believe in climate change. Brown said he does, and criticized Warren on energy policy, alleging she favors only renewable energy while he backs an “all of the above” approach, the Globe reported.
