News bites: Solar firms up pressure for China tariffs

SolarWorld AG and a host of other U.S. solar manufacturers are pushing the federal government to penalize heavily subsidized Chinese competitors that they say forced them to close plants and lay off workers, according to Bloomberg.

Newly rich North Dakota oil barons have not forgotten their roots — and are firmly planted in their communities, Reuters reports.

Vestas Wind Systems and Siemens are leading a group of 42 other companies in an effort to lower offshore wind power costs for the technology, Bloomberg reports.

Gasoline prices should fall by the end of the year as more refineries come online and Europe sends more fuel to the East Coast, notes Bloomberg.

The shale gas drilling revolution has states looking at new taxes to boost revenue, according to The Associated Press.
