News bites: Coal mining costs rise, feds intensify BP probe, and more

The Washington Post reports that it’s getting more and more expensive to mine coal.

The Houston Chronicle
reports on the federal criminal probe of the 2010 BP oil spill.

Bloomberg reports that Russian state oil giant Rosneft’s purchase of TNK-BP is the “culmination of President Vladimir Putin's efforts to reverse the privatizations of the 1990s.”

The New York Times
reports that China is slowing its development of nuclear power plants.
