News bites: Nuclear-power industry withstands Sandy

By Zack Colman - 10/31/12 08:45 AM ET

The nuclear-power industry passed super-storm Sandy’s stress test, notes Bloomberg Businessweek.

The Energy Department said 8.2 million homes and businesses had no power after Sandy, and some might not get electricity until after the Nov. 6 election, according to Bloomberg.

Federal regulators are investigating Barclays for potential electricity market manipulation, notes Reuters.

GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney would need an assist from lawmakers or the courts to fulfill campaign pledges of rolling back Environmental Protection Agency rules, notes Bloomberg.

New Chinese policy will emphasize using natural gas in the transportation sector, according to Reuters.
